On June 7, the Abdominal Cancers Alliance participated in Maryland Oncology Hematology’s National Cancer Survivors Day event in Annapolis, joining partner organizations, patients, and caregivers in a day of connection, education, and celebration.

Amy Hanley, Program Director for the Abdominal Cancers Alliance, attended on behalf of the organization to raise awareness about rare and advanced abdominal cancers, share resources, and engage directly with survivors and their families. Many attendees were learning about treatment options such as HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) and the importance of seeking care from specialists for the first time.

Throughout the event, Amy met with patients navigating difficult diagnoses and provided information on advanced abdominal cancers and sharing our resources. The conversations underscored the need for increased education and outreach—especially for cancers that are often misdiagnosed or treated without the latest knowledge.

The Alliance is proud to work alongside dedicated partners to ensure no patient faces these cancers without support, information, and a community that understands. Events like this serve as a vital opportunity to reach those who may not yet know that better options—and hope—are available.

It was an inspiring day of survivorship, shared stories, and building awareness about the importance of early detection and access to specialized care. The Alliance is honored to be part of such meaningful events and looks forward to continuing to connect with communities across the country.

We thank Maryland Oncology Hematology for hosting this important event and for their ongoing commitment to survivorship and patient advocacy.
