The Abdominal Cancers Alliance (the Alliance) is proud to announce the launch of a new resource to support patients and caregivers on their cancer journey: a state-by-state directory of specialists who perform Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) in the United States.

Now available at abdominalcancers.org/find-a-specialist, this searchable database provides verified information about expert providers offering this complex, life-saving procedure across the United States.

Why This Directory Matters

CRS/HIPEC is a specialized treatment option for individuals facing rare and advanced abdominal cancers, including appendiceal cancer (or appendix cancer) and PMP (pseudomyxoma peritonei), colorectal cancer, endometrial and uterine cancers, gastric cancers, ovarian cancers, peritoneal mesothelioma, and others. However, because HIPEC is a highly specialized procedure performed at select centers, patients report that finding care providers can be an overwhelming and confusing process to navigate.

“This directory is a game-changer for patients and caregivers navigating the uncertainty of an advanced abdominal cancer diagnosis,” said Bo Plantz, Executive Director of the Abdominal Cancers Alliance. “The Alliance is working to help patients get to the care they need as early in their cancer journey as possible and as close to home as possible. We created this resource to empower patients and caregivers with an easily accessible tool to help them find and connect with care providers who have experience treating their diagnosis and can offer them a path to the right care.”

What You’ll Find

The new directory offers:

  • Verified listings of CRS/HIPEC-specialized oncologists and treatment centers

  • Geographic filtering to help patients and caregivers locate specialists

  • Care provider information with background, contact info, and institutional affiliations

  • Ongoing updates and expansion as more providers join the network

Built by Patients, for Patients

True to the Alliance’s mission of being a patient-led and patient-focused organization, the creation of this directory was driven by the experiences and feedback of those directly impacted by abdominal cancers. It reflects our commitment to transparency, education, and access to high-quality care.

“As a physician who has treated thousands of abdominal cancer patients, I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming it can be for patients to navigate their options after a diagnosis,” said Dr. Armando Sardi, President of the Abdominal Cancers Alliance. “We’re proud to offer this listing to help patients and families find HIPEC specialists more confidently. Access to early direction to the right care and early treatment saves lives.”
