June is Uterine and Endometrial Cancers Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, share knowledge, and support the thousands of individuals and families affected by these gynecologic cancers each year.
While uterine cancer is often discussed as a single disease, it actually includes two distinct cancer types: endometrial cancer, which begins in the lining of the uterus and is the most common form of uterine cancer, and uterine sarcoma, a rare cancer that develops in the muscle or connective tissues of the uterus. Understanding the differences between these cancers is critical for early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and improved outcomes.

Why Awareness Matters
Awareness can save lives. Recognizing potential symptoms and risk factors may lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment, when outcomes are often more favorable. Common symptoms can include abnormal uterine bleeding, post-menopausal bleeding, pelvic pain, pelvic mass, or unexplained weight loss. Because these symptoms can be mistaken for other conditions, it is important to seek medical evaluation when changes occur.
Risk factors for endometrial cancer may include obesity, diabetes, family history, prior tamoxifen use, and certain genetic conditions, while uterine sarcoma risk factors can include prior pelvic radiation and other rare inherited syndromes.
Share Knowledge. Share Hope.
Whether you are a patient, survivor, caregiver, healthcare professional, or advocate, your voice can make a difference. By sharing educational resources, encouraging conversations about symptoms and risk factors, and supporting those affected by uterine and endometrial cancers, we can help improve awareness and outcomes for patients everywhere.
This June, join us in raising awareness, fostering understanding, and building a stronger community for those impacted by uterine sarcoma and endometrial cancer.
Together, we are stronger.
