Gynecologic Cancers
Treatment, Awareness
A patient-centered conversation about understanding your diagnosis, building the right care team, and making sense of treatment options when gynecologic cancer spreads within the abdomen. When gynecologic cancer spreads within the abdomen, patients and families are often asked to make complex decisions while still trying to understand what the diagnosis means. They may be unsure of the exact type or stage of cancer, which specialist should lead their care, or why one physician recommends chemotherapy while another recommends surgery. Join the Abdominal Cancers Alliance and the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition for a patient-centered educational webinar featuring experts in gynecologic oncology and peritoneal surface malignancies. The panel will guide participants through the patient journey—from making sense of the diagnosis and assembling the right care team to understanding how specialists evaluate treatment options and decide what should happen next. The discussion will also explore where cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) may fit within treatment planning. These procedures are not appropriate for everyone, but they may be considered for carefully selected patients at certain points in the disease course following a specialized, multidisciplinary evaluation.
