This webinar will introduce CHARLIE’S Trial 2, a clinical study led by Patrick Wagner, MD, and Shannon Altpeter, PA-C, of Allegheny Health Network, that compares two methods of delivering chemotherapy directly into the abdomen: heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC).
The trial focuses on patients with peritoneal disease who are not candidates for cytoreductive surgery and seeks to determine the relative safety and tolerability of laparoscopic HIPEC vs PIPAC, and to compare the effectiveness and value for patients of these two methods.
There is a great need to expand treatment alternatives for patients with peritoneal disease who are not candidates for cytoreductive surgery. This session will cover the study’s purpose, structure, and the questions it aims to answer.
